Several aspirants vying for positions in the upcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) party elections in Kisoro Municipality are under scrutiny following allegations of premature campaigning.

Reports indicate that a number of candidates have engaged in early campaign activities, including the unauthorized display of posters and banners. This has prompted warnings from NRM party officials about strict compliance with the party’s electoral regulations.

A recent feasibility study conducted in Kisoro Municipality identified candidates allegedly involved in early campaigning. These include:

  • For Member of Parliament, Kisoro Municipality: Emmanuel Maniraguha, Byibesho Sam, and Dr. Leo Mfitimana

  • For LCV Chairperson, Kisoro District: Ndyana Richard and Milton Mutabazi

  • For Mayor, Kisoro Municipality: Ndikuyeze Ramanthan and Michael Bazamanza

Tadeo Majambere, the NRM Elections Officer for Kisoro District, expressed disappointment over these early campaign efforts. He emphasized that displaying campaign posters before formal nomination is a direct violation of party guidelines, which allow campaigning only after official approval by the NRM Electoral Commission.

Majambere further criticized candidates for addressing public gatherings, another act he described as contrary to party procedures. He stressed the importance of following the established election process to ensure a fair, transparent, and democratic environment.

“I urge all candidates to strictly adhere to the party’s regulations. Observing these rules is not just a matter of procedure—it is essential for upholding the integrity of the electoral process and creating a respectful political atmosphere,” Majambere stated.

As the NRM elections draw closer, party officials are calling for restraint and discipline among aspiring candidates to ensure orderly and credible internal elections.
