(Arua City) – Students in Arua City are taking part in an ICT-focused training program at Muni University’s Business Incubation Center, where they are learning essential skills in coding, web design, and other technology-related fields. The program is providing an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical skills during their school holidays.

Gabriela Asianzu Sam, a student from Ushindi Secondary School, shared her enthusiasm about the program. She explained how it has helped her stay productive during the holiday and deepen her interest in ICT. “This program has helped me to stop being idle at home, especially during the holiday,” Gabriela said. “It keeps me busy, and since I am passionate about ICT, what I learn, I help others with. It has also opened my mind to understand and explore more in the world of ICT.”

Jonathan Carlos, also from Ushindi Secondary School, echoed similar sentiments, calling the training an invaluable opportunity for students. “This is a great opportunity for us during the holiday period. There’s a lot of progress in the future, where students can solve problems. I have been studying cybersecurity for a while and have also learned coding and website development. This will help in the future, creating jobs even from home. Students can create websites and assist other companies and organizations around Uganda,” Jonathan said.

Geoffrey Eyotre, the technology officer at the Business Incubation Center at Muni University, spoke about the scale of the training program. According to him, over 100 students, particularly high school learners, have been trained in various ICT disciplines during the holiday. “We have trained many students in programming, including Python, Django, and other skills,” Geoffrey said. “We focus on teaching both beginners and those with more advanced knowledge to help them become proficient in ICT.”
