Makerere University has decided to reschedule its 74th graduation ceremony for the second time. Initially set for January 22, 2024, the event will now commence on Monday, January 29, 2024, and conclude on February 2, 2024. This change comes after concerns were raised by various stakeholders about their preparedness for the ceremony within the previously set dates.

The university had initially planned the graduation for January 8 to January 12, but the first postponement was attributed to the NAM summit hosted by Uganda from January 15 to January 20. While the administration did not provide specific reasons for the second extension, unnamed sources within the institution suggested that it might be connected to the NRM annual Liberation Day on January 26.

This rescheduling marks the second time the university has adjusted the dates for its 74th graduation ceremony.
