Makerere University  has initiated the printing of transcripts for the upcoming 74th graduation scheduled from January 29 to February 2, 2024. The university’s goal is the full integration and automation of academic, financial, and human resource management.

The process commenced on December 27, as outlined by Prof Buyinza Mukadasi, the academic registrar. Notably, only students who have successfully cleared their requirements will be eligible to collect their transcripts on graduation day.

To streamline the clearance process, Prof Buyinza urged students to promptly submit their clearance forms to their respective college registrars. In a departure from previous practices, clearance has been simplified, requiring only two stamps from the university bursar and library.

In an internal memo, Prof Buyinza stated, “We plan to issue transcripts on each graduation day. Our 2024 slogan is ‘walk away with your transcript after Freedom Square.’ This graduation is our only opportunity to tell/show the world that Mak has long re-branded herself into a customer-responsive service institution.”

This move signifies Makerere University’s commitment to enhancing efficiency and providing graduates with immediate access to their academic records, marking a significant shift from traditional transcript distribution methods.
