The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has clarified that it has not yet confirmed a release date for the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results, contrary to rumors circulating on social media.
Earlier reports had speculated that the results would be released today, Friday, 17 January 2025. However, UNEB dismissed these claims.
Sources within the Ministry of Education had initially indicated to this website that UNEB and the ministry had agreed to release the results today. However, UNEB officials reportedly failed to secure an appointment to brief Education Minister Janet Museveni on the learners’ performance, leading to a delay in the release date.
According to reliable sources, the 2024 PLE results are now expected to be released between Wednesday, 22nd January , Thursday, 23rd January or Friday, 24th January 2025, with Friday, 24th January being the most likely date.
The 2024 PLE examinations were conducted in November last year, with 798,763 candidates (419,357 females and 379,414 males) sitting for papers in English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies.
UNEB typically releases the PLE results in January, although the exact date varies annually. The board has advised parents, teachers, and candidates to await official communication regarding the release date.
Once released, the results will be accessible through mobile Short Message Service (SMS) and via school examination centers. Hard copies of the results will also be available for collection from the UNEB offices in Ntinda.
