Bruno Mugizi, Sheema – Sheema District Inspector of Schools, Ssempa Muzafaru, has commended primary school heads in the greater Bushenyi region for encouraging learners to participate in co-curricular activities.
He was speaking at the music, dance, and drama competitions for primary schools in the greater Bushenyi sub-region, held at Kamurinda Primary School in Kagarama sub-county, Sheema district.
Parental Care Nursery School Bushenyi emerged the winner in the competitions, which attracted over 15 schools from the five districts of Bushenyi, Buhweju, Sheema, Mitooma, and Buhweju.
Desmond Tayebwa, a music trainer at Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi, said that through music, dance, and drama, students can develop confidence and creativity.
Meanwhile, Sam Orikunda, the Sheema Deputy Resident Commissioner, warned school headteachers against preventing students from participating in co-curricular activities.
Parental Care Nursery School Bushenyi, Kashozi Boarding Primary School from Bushenyi, and Kanengyere Primary School in Sheema district will represent the Bushenyi sub-region at this year’s national music, dance, and drama competitions, which will be held in Mbale City on Friday, August 23, 2024.
