Kampala International University (KIU) hosted a workshop for over 100 academic registrars from June 4th to June 6th, 2024. The workshop was held at KIU’s Main Campus and focused on training registrars from various institutions under the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB). These registrars came from the Central Region of Uganda.
The training was conducted by three facilitators from UBTEB: Mr. Banura Pascal, Mrs. Lindah N. Kabugo, and Ms. Linah Claire Agaba. It took place in ICT Lab 4 at the Main Campus. The main aim of the training was to educate the academic registrars about the new changes made to the Examination Information Management System (EIMS). This system is used for registering UBTEB candidates for Certificate and Diploma courses in Business, Technical, and Vocational/Specialized Education.
The EIMS is an important tool used by UBTEB to register candidates’ bio-data and other academic documents for examination purposes in accredited centers across Uganda. This training aligns with UBTEB’s goal of conducting competency-based assessments and examinations in the upcoming sessions in July and December 2024.
Ms. Lydia Agasha Mugizi, the Coordinator of Certificate Programmes at KIU, highlighted the university’s involvement with UBTEB. She mentioned that KIU was accredited in February 2024 with the center number BTV115. Over the years, KIU has graduated more than 250 students from the eight accredited UBTEB courses in Business and Humanities.
Ms. Mugizi emphasized that KIU’s Certificate Programmes aim to train young people to participate in the Board’s innovations, which include the computerization of various operations and conducting Competence-Based Assessments (CBA) and examinations.
KIU offers several Certificate programmes, including:
- National Certificate in Business Administration
- National Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management
- National Certificate in Secretarial and Office Management
- National Certificate in Public Administration and Management
- National Certificate in Guidance and Counselling
- National Certificate in Journalism and Media Studies
