Wisdom High School Awards Over 36 Million to Top UACE Students and Teachers

The Kole District LCV Chairman, Andrew Awany, has applauded the director of Wisdom High School, Ambrose Ogwal, for being a role model and a hero in promoting modern educational standards in Kole and Northern Uganda.

Wisdom High School, located in Akalo, Kole District, has once again come to the limelight by setting an unbreakable record of awarding over 36 million shillings to the best-performing students and teachers following the UACE exams. This event took place at the school premises during a thanksgiving ceremony held on Saturday, March 22, 2025.




The school, which emerged as the best-performing institution in the Lango sub-region and has made significant strides nationwide, celebrated a 100% pass rate in UCE and an impressive UACE performance. Hundreds of students attained top scores, which were recognized at the national level. Wisdom High School in Kole District produced:




  • 6 students with a maximum of 20 points

  • 7 students with 19 points

  • 15 students with 18 points

  • 14 students with 17 points

  • 33 students with 16 points

  • 24 students with 15 points

  • 35 students with 14 points, among others.

This remarkable achievement has solidified Wisdom High School’s reputation as a leading academic institution in Northern Uganda and beyond. Director Ambrose Ogwal attributed the success to strategic planning, quality teaching, and strong leadership by the teachers, students, and parents. He also recognized Mzee Augustine for his generous sale of nine acres of land, which has been instrumental in the school’s expansion to date.




The Headteacher of Wisdom High School, Mr. Bongo Daniel, commended Director Ambrose Ogwal as a seasoned teacher and author of Modern Approach to European History, a widely used history textbook. He also recognized Mrs. Ogwal, a lecturer at Lira University, for her clear track record of academic excellence.

Director Ambrose Ogwal, however, awarded cash prizes to six students who achieved 20 points, each receiving 500,000 UGX. Among the top achievers were:

  1. Adoi Tamali (PCM/ICT) – 500,000 UGX

  2. Odongo Daniel (HEL/ICT)

  3. Okuta Jalam Benzamine (HLD/ICT), among others.

He was also thanked for awarding several students with 19 points, who each received 200,000 UGX from the school administration. Some of the top performers in this category included:




  1. Apio Sarah (HEL/ICT)

  2. Acili Sheila Lorna (HEL/ICT)

  3. Ebil Maritah Eve (HLL/ICT)

  4. Angom Mercy (LED/ICT), among other top achievers.

The best-performing and most hardworking teachers were also rewarded with substantial cash prizes, based on their students’ recent UACE and UCE performance. This gesture was meant to motivate them for future performance.

Wisdom High School Akalo has a committed team of professional teachers and support staff, which has enabled the school to outperform others in Northern Uganda. A parent, identified as Akello Anna, a 53-year-old woman, narrated how the director helped her child become a football star, and he is now playing at recognized football clubs in Lango.

Among the key dignitaries who attended the thanksgiving ceremony were: Joan Pacotoo (former DEO/RDC), Morris Odung Omara, and Joy Ongom (Woman MP aspirant for Kole in 2026), among others.
