The family of the late Bulasiyo Kanyerezi, a senior official at Mengo, has petitioned H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Museveni Kaguta, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intervene in a case where a land grabber called Ssuuna Lwanga Fredrick allegedly connived with the police to evict 100 people from the family of the late Kanyerezi.
The late Kanyerezi Bulasiyo, who was the head of the Nsenene sub-clan and the muluka chief of Sseta Bweya parish, Butambala district, died in 1998, leaving land in Lugo village in Bweya parish, Butambala district. Relatives of the late Kanyerezi acquired letters of administration to administer the estate of the deceased. The letters of administration were issued and signed by Her Lordship Susan Okalany on August 31, 2020.
The administrators of the estate, Mr. Masembe Edward and Kanyerezi, opened a case of forgery of letters of administration at Kibibi Police station and Kabasanda police, but police allegedly were highly believed to have connived with the suspected fraudster Suuna Lwanga Fredrick to instead arrest the administrators of the estate. The police guarded Suuna as he illegally evicted over 100 family members of the Kanyerezi family and destroyed their crops.
Suuna Lwanga Fredrick sued the administrators in the high court, but the case was dismissed, and a court order issued on October 25, 2022, protecting the administrators via miscellaneous application 148 of 2022 arising from civil suit 68/2022.
On December 15, 2022, Mr. Chepkrui Shunu Jimmy, on behalf of the IGP, directed the RPC Katonga region to enforce a court order protecting the administrators of the late Kanyerezi family.
The RPC Katonga, in turn, directed the DPC Kibibi to enforce the order, but the police have to date instead helped the fraudster and land grabber Suuna Lwanga Fredrick to evict the legal owners of the Kanyerezi family.
