A somber atmosphere descended upon Kyanamira trading center in Kyanamira sub-county, Kabale district, as a fatal accident claimed the life of a Kenyan national. The incident, believed to have resulted from overspeeding, occurred along the Kabale-Mbarara highway, leaving a trail of grief and devastation.
The ill-fated vehicle, a white and grey Mercedes Benz bearing registration number KDM 588E/ZE3608, was driven by Ramadhan Hussein Ramadhan, a 49-year-old Kenyan national. Carrying a load of manure, Ramadhan was en route from Kenya to Rwanda when the tragedy struck.
Upon reaching Kyanamira trading center, Ramadhan Hussein reportedly lost control of the vehicle, failing to navigate a sharp corner. The trailer veered off the road, overturning and trapping the driver beneath its weight.
Despite the swift response of the local authorities, Ramadhan Hussein was pronounced dead at the scene. The lifeless body was transported to Kabale Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination, while efforts to remove the overturned vehicle from the scene commenced.
Asp Mucunguzi, the Officer in Charge of Traffic in Kabale, assumed the lead of the investigation, assisted by Corporal Kanyanya. The cause of the accident is suspected to be overspeeding, a recurring factor contributing to road fatalities.
