Dokolo, Uganda:

With just four days left until the polling date, the FDC has welcomed numerous dignitaries and party bigwigs to the Dokolo by-election campaign.

In Bata sub-county and Tetugu in Agwata sub-county, Dr. Alwoch Rosemary Ogwal told voters during her campaign on Saturday that she will continue the projects initiated by her late mother, such as supporting VHTs and LCs. Notably included in her manifesto is an agenda for improving education, continuing the scholarship and sponsorship programs for over 180 students and pupils supported annually by her late mother.

“I am from Adok, and I will not go anywhere. I am not married to anyone from abroad, as some people are claiming during the campaign,” she assured the people. She debunked ongoing allegations and rumors spread by some politicians that she is married to an American national, emphasizing, “I am not yet married to anyone, and it is not true that any man from America will come and take me away from Dokolo once I am elected,” narrated Alwoch.

In Bata sub-county, Amolatar FDC MP Okot Junior Bitek stated, “Lango is not specifically for any political body, and nobody has conquered Lango as a politician or a political party.” Campaigning in Bata sub-county, FDC’s Okot Bitek Junior asserted that some individuals believe that Lango’s politics belong exclusively to them, but he refuted this, saying, “big no! they should forget and relax, this time FDC is there to win the upcoming bye-election slated for March 21, 2024.”

Dr. Rosemary Alwoch Ogwal has now teamed up with FDC historical figures such as Amuriat Patrick Oboi, the FDC party president; Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the FDC Secretary-General; Soroti City West MP Dokolo LCV Otto James Apili, among others, to campaign for Alwoch.

POA, the FDC Party president, reminisced about campaigning in Bata Sub-county in 2016 as an FDC presidential candidate. He added that back in 1996, Atat Cecilia Atim Ogwal (RIP) taught him politics, noting that Cecilia was a champion of multi-partyism in the country. “Today we present to you the real daughter of Cecilia. Vote for her come March 21, 2024,” he urged.

Joel Okao Otema, a renowned FDC mobilizer in Dokolo district, noted that individuals with malicious intentions have come forward to oppose Cecilia’s daughter during the bye-election, disregarding the fact that she is an orphan.

MP Julius Peter Elego remarked that Atat Cecilia had rallied Lango to demonstrate their love by leaving a legacy of leadership with a difference.

FDC dignitaries such as Susan Otai, a NEC member/secretary for foreign affairs-FDC, Goreti, who is the secretary for the youth, and MP Jonathan Ebwalu of Soroti City West, among others, accompanied Cecilia’s daughter in Bata and Agwata sub-counties on Saturday during the campaign.
