Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson, Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, has highlighted five primary schools that have received newly constructed three-classroom blocks after years of operating in deplorable conditions.

The beneficiary schools include:

  1. Mungara Primary School in Muko Sub-county
  2. Kagogo Primary School in Ikumba Sub-county
  3. Ruhonwa II Primary School in Hamurwa Sub-county
  4. Nyamiringa Primary School in Bubare Town Council
  5. Nangalo Primary School in Bubare Town Council

Kasyaba commended Finance State Minister Henry Musasizi Ariganyira for lobbying funds that facilitated the renovation and construction works. In addition to the new classroom blocks, the district also supplied twin desks and iron sheets to enhance learning conditions in the beneficiary schools.

At Ruhonwa II Primary School, Headteacher Kiconco Gad explained that the old classrooms had become a serious safety risk, especially during heavy rains, which discouraged parents from enrolling their children.

A catechist, Maria Evas, recounted a past tragedy in which a collapsing classroom wall claimed the life of the PTA chairperson, Alex Musasizi, highlighting the urgency of infrastructure improvement.

Parents expressed relief and appreciation for the renovations, saying their children previously studied in dusty and uncomfortable conditions, “like those in a garden,” which hindered learning.
