Hon. Harriet Ageno Nenidiro, CEO of HAWOD (Hands of Women in Development) from Dokolo District, has urged the youth in Dokolo and the Lango sub-region to be productive while engaging with social media. Ageno made these remarks during an interview with The Ankole Times newspaper on Tuesday evening from Dokolo Town Council.

She encouraged the youth to be self-reliant and to apply for jobs online, especially those who have completed O-Level and A-Level studies. According to Nenidiro, many young people primarily use the internet for games and social interactions.

Girls often focus on digital photos and fashion trends. She emphasized the need to embrace digital business and educational opportunities to build a more fruitful digital future.

Ageno pointed out that while many young people complain about low employment opportunities, there is also limited internet and computer usage, inadequate access to the latest technology, and sophisticated telecommunications infrastructure, which hinder economic development.

She advocated for active participation in the digital era to facilitate income generation, information sharing, lobbying, and advocacy as essential components for sustainable development.

Ageno contested under the National Unity Platform (NUP) in the recent Dokolo woman MP by-election.
