KAMPALA, Uganda — Veteran Ugandan politician and former Second Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. Moses Ali, has been admitted to Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
The exact nature of his illness had not been made public by Friday afternoon, with neither his family nor the government issuing an official statement on his condition.
However, long-time friend and businessman Capt. Mike Mukula confirmed that the Adjumani West Member of Parliament is hospitalised. Mukula said he has remained in close contact with Gen. Ali’s family and is monitoring his health.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Mukula wished the veteran politician a speedy recovery, noting that Gen. Ali had “been under the weather” for some time.
“Praying for the quick recovery of my longtime friend, Gen. Moses Ali,” Mukula wrote.
Despite growing public concern, officials have yet to provide further details about Gen. Ali’s medical condition or indicate when he is expected to leave the hospital.
Gen. Moses Ali is one of Uganda’s longest-serving political figures, with a public service career spanning several decades. He has served in a number of senior government positions, including Second Deputy Prime Minister, and has represented Adjumani West Constituency in Parliament for many years.
His hospitalisation has prompted messages of support and prayers from political colleagues, friends and members of the public wishing him a swift recovery.
