In addition to these appointments, Henry Basaliza and Michael Katungi have been named as coordinators for the Tooro and Kigezi sub-regions, respectively. Polly Karamuzi and Joyce Walemba have been appointed as spokespersons for the Ankole and Rwenzori Women representative positions.

These new appointees join existing members of the PLU leadership team, which includes individuals such as events promoter Balaam Barugahara, businessman Frank Gashumba, and Kitgum Woman NRM MP, Lillian Aber.

Furthermore, notable figures within the PLU leadership structure include President Yoweri Museveni’s brother, Michael Nuwagira, also known as Toyota, and Igara East NRM MP, Michael Mawanda.

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who also serves as the senior presidential advisor on special operations, expressed gratitude to the supporters and well-wishers of PLU after its launch on February 7, 2024. He emphasized the organization’s commitment to promoting national unity, peace, and stability in Uganda.

The PLU, formerly known as the MK Movement, was established as a platform to mobilize Ugandans towards these common goals. Originating in April 2022, the movement has evolved to encompass a diverse group of individuals united in their support for Gen. Muhoozi and his contributions to the country.
