Golf Enthusiast Alexander Matsiko Wins Katogo Invitational

Alexander Matsiko secured victory in the Katogo Invitational Golf tournament held at the Lakeside Entebbe Club. The tournament featured a substantial field of 144 golfers and took place on Saturday.

Matsiko achieved a score of 65 nett, clinching both the overall prize and the top spot in Group A. The event used the ‘Me Too format’ for the first time at the prestigious and oldest club in East Africa. Joseph Bogera finished as the runner-up with a score of 67 nett, determined by a count back.




In Group B, Herbert Olowo stood on the podium with a score of 63 nett, also decided by a count back. Meanwhile, Henry Ssali, the Managing Director of Pivot Media, claimed victory in Group C with a score of 61 nett. Diana Nabukenya emerged as the Ladies’ winner with a score of 66 nett.




I and M Bank Uganda played a significant role as a sponsor of golf in the country. Mwihaki Wachira, the Group Head of Marketing and Communications, explained the bank’s motivation for sponsoring the event and golf in general: “We are proud to create consumer connection opportunities for our high-net-worth corporate banking customers. That’s why we sponsored this event. It also provides an avenue for people to play golf, network, and conduct business on the course.”




Additional sponsors included Rwanda Air, Renault Uganda, which offered a brand new car prize on Hole 10 (unclaimed), GA Insurance, and Fenon Events. According to a press release from the club, the next invitational will take place at the same club in December.
