Govt whip Obua Commended for Successful Medical Camp in Alebtong

Okidi Patrick, Alebtong – A one-week medical and surgical camp in Ajuri County, Alebtong District, concluded successfully on Saturday, August 24, 2024, with a total of 3,976 patients receiving free treatment and surgeries for various ailments.

The week-long medical camp, organized by Government Chief Whip Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, commonly known as Atin Alwak, who is also the MP for Ajuri County, along with the UPDF medical team and accomplished sons and daughters of Ajuri in the medical profession, conducted 73 surgeries and handled 241 dental cases, among other services.




The camp took place from August 17 to 24, 2024. Malaria was the most common ailment, followed by urinary tract infections (UTIs).




The medical and surgical camp was launched at Alanyi HCIII on Saturday, August 17, 2024. According to Assistant RDC of Alebtong District Mr. Okello Jimmy, who spoke to The Ankole Times newspaper in a separate interview on Sunday, the initiative was well-received.




Mr. Okello Jimmy appreciated the NRM government and H.E. President Yoweri Museveni for deploying UPDF soldiers to conduct such a successful medical camp. He also commended Hon. Hamson Obua for his effective lobbying, which contributed to the camp’s success.

Earlier, while addressing the community of Alebtong District during the closure of the medical camp, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua praised the UPDF doctors for their dedication and the people of Ajuri County and Alebtong District for their positive response and turnout. He encouraged them to take advantage of the free medical camp to address their health concerns.

In a related development, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua announced that 42 more surgeries are expected to take place in two weeks’ time.
