Brig. Gen. Muwanguzi Takes Charge

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Brigadier General Godfrey Muwanguzi as the acting deputy chief coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC). This move follows the recent deployment of Major General Sam Kavuma to Somalia, where he will serve as the Force Commander of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), according to the Ministry of Defence.

General Kavuma officially handed over his responsibilities to Brigadier General Muwanguzi on July 25, 2024. Prior to this appointment, Muwanguzi served as the reserve force commander for Kampala and as the OWC coordinator for the same region.

Operation Wealth Creation, established in July 2013 by President Museveni, is a program designed to promote commercial agriculture and improve household incomes across Uganda. The initiative focuses on distributing production inputs equitably and promptly to boost agricultural productivity.

The program also aims to advance rural technological development, enabling smallholder farmers to transition into small-scale industrialists. In addition, OWC says it is committed to fostering local and community enterprise development, enhancing infrastructure in rural areas, and empowering the 68% of the population not engaged in the formal economy.
