The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abas Byakagaba has announced a series of changes within the Uganda Police Force, reshuffling several high-ranking officers, including those in the Public Relations office.
One of the significant changes involves SP Fred Enanga, who has been moved from his position as police spokesperson to the role of deputy director for Interpol and international relations. Enanga’s replacement as police spokesperson is SP Kituuma Rusoke, who previously served as the Regional Police Commander for the Rwizi region.
In other notable changes, SP Erias Kasirabo has transitioned from the Anti-Stock Theft Unit to the Human Resources and Administration Directorate as the deputy director. SP Christine Nanding has been appointed as the commandant of the Professional Standards Unit, replacing Sarah Kibwika. Kibwika has been reassigned to the Directorate of Human Resources and Administration as the head of deployments.
Additionally, CP Eceger Richard has been moved from the Private Security Firearms Department to become the commandant of Kampala Metropolitan Police.
During the weekly security briefing at the police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, on Monday, Claire Nabakka, the deputy police spokesperson, explained that these changes aim to streamline the operations of the force and improve service delivery. She also mentioned that more changes would be announced in the coming days.
She said the Uganda Police Force is continuously adjusting its leadership to ensure effective management and responsiveness to the country’s security needs.
