On October 16, 2024, a team of Gulu District leaders, including the DRDC, CLO, LCV Councillor, LCIII, GISO, and others, conducted a successful community policing and mobilization event in Olel Village, Laban Parish, Pukony Sub County.
During the event, the leaders addressed pressing issues such as lack of parental care, alcoholism, substance abuse, rape, theft, arson, and other criminal cases. Cosmas Okidi, the DRDC, directed the GISO to establish vigilantes responsible for reporting suspicious individuals to the RDC’s office for immediate action.
Okidi emphasized the importance of regular security meetings at the village, parish, and sub-county levels to address and resolve security concerns. He also highlighted President Museveni’s efforts to promote peace, security, freedom, and the well-being of Ugandan citizens, urging the community to embrace and maintain these achievements.
In addition to security matters, the leaders discussed job creation and wealth creation ventures, such as PDM, Emyooga, UWEP, and the Youth Livelihood…Grow project. The community welcomed these programs, particularly expressing appreciation for the timely disbursement of PDM funds and their commitment to supporting socio-economic transformation.
Cosmas Okidi encouraged the community to embrace the four-sector economy, including agriculture, industrialization, services, and ICT. He emphasized that the government’s principles of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, democracy, and socio-economic transformation are crucial for transforming Uganda into a money economy and should be promoted at all levels.
