Hon Nabulo Says True Leadership is Measured by Results, Not Promises

TORORO – Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Mafabi Asha Nabulo, has praised West Budama North East MP Hon. Richard Owere Machika for what she described as exemplary servant leadership, calling on political leaders across Uganda to prioritise initiatives that directly improve the lives of the people they represent.

Hon. Nabulo made the remarks on Saturday while speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony organised by Hon. Owere Machika in Tororo District to thank God and the people of West Budama North East Constituency for electing him as their Member of Parliament.

The event attracted political, religious and cultural leaders, as well as hundreds of residents who gathered to celebrate Hon. Owere’s election victory and reflect on the importance of accountable and people-centred leadership.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Nabulo congratulated Hon. Owere on his election, describing him as a leader committed to delivering practical solutions that improve the welfare of his constituents.

She said true leadership should be judged by tangible results rather than promises, noting that investments in healthcare, education and livelihoods have a lasting impact on communities.

“Leadership is about serving the people and responding to their needs. When leaders invest in projects that improve healthcare, education and livelihoods, they earn the trust and confidence of the communities they represent,” Hon. Nabulo said.

She commended Hon. Owere for supporting healthcare services in the constituency, particularly through the donation of ambulances to improve emergency medical response and access to health services.

According to Hon. Nabulo, such interventions demonstrate responsive leadership that addresses the daily challenges faced by ordinary Ugandans, especially those living in rural communities where emergency medical transport remains limited.

She urged other leaders across the country to emulate development initiatives that deliver meaningful and lasting benefits to the people, stressing that national development depends on practical action and accountable representation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Owere Machika thanked the people of West Budama North East Constituency for the trust they placed in him and pledged to honour the confidence shown by delivering on his campaign commitments.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with government institutions, local leaders and development partners to improve healthcare, education, infrastructure and household incomes across the constituency.

The thanksgiving ceremony concluded with prayers, messages of appreciation and renewed calls for unity and collaboration as leaders encouraged residents to work together in advancing socio-economic development in West Budama North East Constituency.
