Didas Tibeijuka Bijenje, 73, a former night security guard at Lift Up Jesus campus and a popular panelist on Hope Radio’s Obunyakare program, was laid to rest on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at his home in Kicumbi cell, Kamuganguzi Sub-county, Kabale District.
Born in 1951, Bijenje passed away on Sunday, July 21, after being hit by a car in Mwanjari Business Center along the Kabale-Katuna road. He was rushed to Kabale Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A milk seller by trade, Bijenje was a beloved figure on the Obunyakare program, which airs every Saturday from 10 pm to 12 am. Known for his deep knowledge of Runyankole Rukiga proverbs and his insights into traditional African society, he was a valuable contributor to the show.
He is survived by two wives, Kedress Tibeijuka and Ampeire Sophia, 15 children, and 43 grandchildren.
During the funeral service, Pastor Margret Kiiza, representing Bishop Alyosious Kiiza of Lift Up Jesus Global Ministries, described Bijenje as a dedicated worker.
Pastor Bosco, another speaker, praised Bijenje as a God-fearing, trustworthy, and saved individual.
Fellow Obunyakare program guests, Pretty Ampurire, Yesu Ariyo Yared (aka Muzeyi Rwampinsi), and Kamwebaze Fled (aka Muzeyi Minago), remembered Bijenje as a sociable person who enjoyed being part of the program.
Program hosts Libino Byamukama and Sadress Tiyitu commended Bijenje for his research abilities and his significant impact on the show, particularly in interpreting proverbs and discussing traditional topics. They also praised his talent for creating challenging tongue twisters.
Bijenje’s children fondly recalled their father as a loving and playful parent who worked hard to foster unity among his stepchildren.
