Hundreds of individuals welcomed the State Minister for Education and Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, yesterday as he updated his name in the NRM register in his village of Aale in Aliakamer parish.
The Minister, who met with residents from six villages, later proceeded to Katakwi High School, where he launched the distribution of over 10,000 government books to all government and private secondary schools in Ngariam County.
Joseph Opule, the head teacher of Katakwi High School, stated that the school has currently enrolled over 600 students, and classes are progressing steadily.
James Engole, the chairperson of head teachers in Katakwi District, expressed gratitude to the Minister for his effective lobbying skills, noting that Ngariam County is the only one in the country with a seed school in each sub-county.
Irene Among, the secretary for Education and Community Affairs in Katakwi District, urged the public to support leaders who prioritize the needs of their constituents.
The Minister mentioned that the distributed books cover various subjects including biology, agriculture, CRE, Ateso, Fine Art, chemistry, physics, mathematics, history, Kiswahili, Chinese, and French.
Ogwang stated his intention to distribute books to the counties of Toroma and Usuk as well, and he plans to engage the public in discussions on good governance in those counties.
