According to reports, a minister in President Museveni’s government is struggling to find rest both day and night after money lenders in Kampala informed her that they had received court permission to publish newspaper advertisements allowing them to sell her properties.

This minister is none other than Joyce Juliet Nabosa Ssebugwawo, the State Minister for ICT. She has been given a deadline of 30 days to pay back millions of shillings or risk having her valuable property in the suburbs of Kampala sold by mid-February 2025.

Documents reviewed by the media reveal that a bailiff firm named Cranimer Associates, located at Greenland Towers, has issued media advertisements clarifying that the targeted residential apartment is a multi-story building located on block 178, plots 1686 and 3733. Additionally, a prime piece of land covering several acres is also set to be seized and sold.

Joyce Ssebugwawo is recognized as a well-known figure in Ugandan politics and within the Buganda Kingdom. Her late husband was a paternal uncle to the Nabagereka of Buganda, and he played a significant role in facilitating the marriage of Kabaka to Sylvia Nagginda, who was residing in New York, USA at the time.

The media advertisement clearly states that if the debt is not settled, the occupants of the implicated property must vacate within 7 days of January 16, 2025, because the minister used these assets to secure the loans.

The properties will be auctioned publicly 30 days from now since they served as collateral for the loans. The public auction, as sanctioned by the court, will take place at the Cranimer Associates office on the 5th floor of Greenland Towers (room 9A) at exactly 10 am.

Sources within Cranimer Associates indicate that the loan was granted to a company called Gage Investments Ltd, using the mentioned property as collateral, which is registered under the name of Joyce Juliet Nabosa Ssebugwawo.
