Isingiro South MP Byarugaba Alex Bakunda is facing backlash for allegedly overseeing an assault on a supporter of his opponent, Mujuni Maari Assensio, also known as Gamba Nokora.
The incident occurred on March 30, 2025, during a thanksgiving ceremony for Rwanyana Godwin at Nyabugando Church of Uganda in Kamubeizi Ward, Kamubeizi Town Council, Isingiro South.
During the event, Bakunda’s supporters, led by his brother Musinguzi Jimmy Gabriel, allegedly attacked Byaruhanga Onesmus, a media representative from the Mujuni Maari Foundation, for refusing to stop recording the event.
In the ensuing altercation, Mupenzi Anatori, who attempted to intervene, had his ear bitten off by Musinguzi Jimmy Gabriel.
Byaruhanga Onesmus has condemned the incident and called for a thorough investigation.
