Kabale Diocese Celebrates Ordination of Six New Priests, Emphasizing Unity and Service

Six deacons from Kabale Diocese were ordained to the priesthood on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Kabale Diocesan Headquarters, with a call to unite Christians and uphold the reputation of Kabale Diocese.

The newly ordained priests are Father Alex Muhwezi, Father Anaklet Asingwire, Father Robert Mugabe, Father Christopher Niwagaba, Father Innocent Kanyesige, and Father Philemon Byomuhangi.




The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, challenged the newly ordained priests to uphold the diocese’s reputation, emphasizing the challenges of priesthood.




Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira stated, “Priesthood is a demanding task, but I challenge you to represent Kabale Diocese and unite Christians.”




Hon. Henry Musasizi, State Minister for Finance and General Duties, and Legislator for Rubanda East, urged the newly ordained priests to represent Kabale Diocese and Uganda as a whole.

Hon. Henry Musasizi emphasized, “Educate Christians on spiritual and developmental matters, similar to the NRM Government led by President Museveni, which focuses on uniting and serving all people regardless of tribe or origin.” He acknowledged the Church’s role in supporting government efforts to promote development, stating, “People cannot have peace if they lack food and basic necessities.”

Hon. Henry Musasizi outlined four avenues for accessing money and employment: agriculture, factory work, hospitality services, and ICT.




Kabale District Woman MP, Hon. Atwakiire Catherine Ndamira, and Ndorwa East MP, Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba, encouraged the newly ordained priests to foster unity among Christians in their parishes.

Rubanda District parliamentary hopeful, Jacqueline Katabazi, donated a chasuble to each newly ordained priest, while MPs Prosy Akampurira, Moses Kamuntu Mwongyera, Nicholas Kamara, and other aspirants presented them with envelopes.
