City socialite Judith Heard has recently shared her last wishes, outlining some unique preferences in her Will, inspired by her late friend, former Club Guvnor publicist Pherrie Kim, who passed away due to brain cancer on October 11, 2023.
Pherrie, in her own Will, expressed her wish not to have her photographs displayed during her funeral and encouraged mourners not to grieve for her. She entrusted a group of photographers she had worked with over the years for her funeral coverage, including Josephat Sseguya, Edgar Batte, Ronnie Bob, Oscar Ntege, and Isaac Sulah Sserwada, commending their exceptional work.
Pherrie insisted that attendees at her funeral should be allowed to use their mobile phones for taking selfies, recording videos, and providing live coverage to enable her friends in the diaspora to participate in bidding her farewell. She emphasized that her images should not be placed near her body, on tables, or on items like T-shirts and calendars.
During Pherrie’s funeral, Judith Heard spoke to Bukedde TV on October 12, 2023, in Katale, Sseguku, and shared her own Will wishes. She stated that upon her demise, she wants her body to be kept in her bedroom and not taken outside. Instead of a traditional burial, she has requested to be cremated.
Heard further explained, “I want to be cremated when I die, and the ashes should be kept in the house. I don’t wish to be buried elsewhere because we have many homes, so I’m uncertain where exactly I should be laid to rest.”
She also made it clear that those offering condolences to her family should refrain from sharing her photos with “Rest in Peace” messages. Instead, she urged them to celebrate her life by sharing the positive contributions she made while she was alive.
Heard concluded by mentioning how the uncertainty of life, especially highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, has influenced her outlook on death, emphasizing the need to cherish every moment.
