The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, recently addressed the evolving dynamics of global politics, highlighting Africa’s potential to voice its concerns in international forums. He emphasized that in a multipolar world, where several powerful nations coexist, Africa can finally have its issues heard and addressed. General Kainerugaba pointed out the historical unfair treatment of Africa, with Western states often exploiting rather than addressing its concerns.

Speaking at the National Defence College – Uganda (NDC – U) in Njeru, General Kainerugaba stressed the importance of Africa’s unity and solidarity for effective defense, industrialization, infrastructure development, and building a healthy workforce. He emphasized the need for Africa to organize itself to attain strategic strength and defend its interests collectively.

In his lecture on “Strategic Security and Interests,” General Kainerugaba proposed that solidarity among nations, particularly in Africa and the Global South, is crucial for preventing future world conflicts. He suggested empowering Africa and enhancing the participation of the Global South in international affairs through initiatives like strengthening economic blocs such as BRICS. He commended the course members of NDC-U for their commitment to upgrading their knowledge, highlighting the institution’s role in military education.

Major General Francis Okello, the Commandant of NDC-U, informed General Kainerugaba that the current course, focusing on National Security Studies, Policy Formulation, Strategic Management, and Research, is nearing its completion, with graduation preparations underway. The NDC-U, recognized as the highest institution for military learning, is currently conducting its Second Intake, comprising 21 members, including one public servant at the level of a Commissioner.
