Kapchorwa District, Uganda — The Kapchorwa Resident District Commissioner’s (RDC) office is set to undergo a long-awaited renovation starting tomorrow, 16th April 2025. This follows the official handover of the site today to Tegeres Hardware Limited, the firm contracted to carry out the works.
The renovation, which will cost UGX 82.8 million, is scheduled to be completed within 60 days, with work expected to conclude on 15th June 2025. The RDC, Ms. Deborah Mwesigwa Mugerwa, together with district leaders and stakeholders, presided over the handover event and commended the government for prioritizing Kapchorwa in this infrastructure improvement initiative.
In her remarks, the RDC expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for supporting the renovation, noting that the office has never been refurbished since its establishment and was in a deteriorating condition.
She emphasized the importance of the facelift in enhancing service delivery and creating a conducive working environment for district leadership.
During the ceremony, calls were made to the contractor and their site engineer to ensure quality work and strict adherence to agreed timelines. The RDC and her team stressed the need for value for money and pledged to closely monitor the progress of the renovation.
The event was attended by district leaders, security officials, technical staff, and the project supervisor, all of whom expressed optimism that the renovation would significantly improve the office’s functionality and appearance. The project marks a positive step in efforts to enhance public infrastructure within Kapchorwa District.
