Commissioner Okello Advocates Cooperation for Peaceful Elections in Kisoro

The former Member of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Budget (PACOB) and current Commissioner in the Electoral Commission, Okello Anthony, has urged candidates in the ongoing Kisoro District general by-elections to unite and cooperate as a means of ensuring peaceful elections.

This call follows the successful nomination of six candidates competing for the position of Woman Member of Parliament for Kisoro District, with elections scheduled for 14th November 2024.




Commissioner Anthony Okello commended the aspirants for their commitment to conducting peaceful campaigns through cooperation, unity, and collaboration with their supporters.




He emphasized the Electoral Commission’s dedication to a free and fair electoral process and acknowledged the media’s role in disseminating information and maintaining order.




According to Salim Sultana, the candidate from the National Unity Platform (NUP), voters should view opposition leaders as advocates for development in Kisoro District.

Sultana appealed to focus on improving education, health, infrastructure, and lobbying for the people of Kisoro.
