Lango Cultural Institution Partners with Uganda AIDS Commission to Fight HIV/AIDS

Counsel Patrick Okwir, the spokesperson for the Lango Cultural Institution, confirmed to the media on Thursday evening that a joint delegation from the Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) and TASO visited His Highness Won Nyaci Elect of Lango, Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune, in his office.

Okwir stated that on September 5, 2024, a joint delegation led by Mr. Tom Etii from UAC and Dr. Sarah Alinga Barbra from TASO met with Won Nyaci Elect Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune. The UAC delegation also included Hope Murungi, David Muttu, and Archie Luyimbazi.




The joint delegation proposed a partnership with the Lango Cultural Institution to combine efforts in fighting the HIV/AIDS scourge and reduce the infection rate in Lango to zero by 2030.




Won Nyaci Elect, Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, accepted the proposal and urged the development of a formal memorandum of understanding for the partnership.




The delegation congratulated Won Nyaci Elect for assuming the high seat of honor in Lango and pledged UGX 3 million towards the coronation scheduled for November 2nd, 2024.

Counsel Patrick Okwir, on behalf of the Lango Cultural Institution, stated that preparations for the coronation of Eng. Dr. MM Odongo Okune are complete. He expressed his delight as the Institution’s spokesperson regarding the recent developments, including the successful fundraising dinner held in Kampala.
