PADER, Uganda – The LC3 Chairperson of Puranga Sub-County, Pader District, Adea Sypriano, has accused two Chief District Officers (CDOs) of causing poor service delivery in the district.
In a letter dated August 30, 2024, Sypriano accused Amuku Godfrey Bimeny of causing the loss of a government motorcycle (LG 0037-098) intended for monitoring government programs and sensitization in Puranga Sub-County. He alleged that Bimeny failed to report the theft of the motorcycle to the Chief Administrative Officer’s (CAO) office in Pader District.
According to older person Oboke Mathew from Puranga Sub-Region, the motorcycle is believed to have disappeared from Patongo Sub-County in Agago District.
When contacted on Thursday morning, Pader Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Milton Odongo confirmed receiving a complaint letter from the LC3 Chairperson of Puranga Sub-County regarding the misconduct of CDO Lamaji Christine, who has been absent from work for nearly two years and is believed to be residing in Gulu City.
Odongo also confirmed to The Ankole Times newspaper that he had received another disturbing report about the loss of the Puranga Sub-County government motorcycle due to neglect, as detailed in a letter written to his office by the LC3 Chairperson.
He instructed the Pader police to investigate the matter, make arrests, and forward the two CDOs for prosecution.
The LC3 Chairperson has copied his letter to the Director of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, urging them to take a keen interest in the matter as the embattled CDOs Bimeny Amuku and Lamaji Christine continue to be a headache for the Puranga Sub-County administration.
Our reporter attempted to reach the two CDOs for their side of the story but was unable to contact them.
