Tensions have flared in Nyundo Sub-county, Kisoro District, as residents voice frustration over what they describe as unequal service delivery by the district Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Grace Akifeza Ngabirano.
The outcry follows Hon. Akifeza’s donation of 250 hospital beds and mattresses last month to various health centers across Kisoro District. While the donation, secured through her lobbying efforts with the Ministry of Health, was widely welcomed, the absence of any allocations to Nyundo Sub-county has sparked accusations of neglect and possible political bias.
Leading the criticism is Fred Mutambuzi, the LCIII Chairperson of Nyundo Sub-county, who expressed deep concern over the complete exclusion of his area.
He questioned the criteria used for distribution and accused the MP of deliberately sidelining Nyundo—potentially due to undisclosed political motives.
Mutambuzi warned that such disparities in the allocation of healthcare resources risk undermining service delivery and eroding public trust in leadership.
In response, Hon. Grace Akifeza Ngabirano acknowledged the concerns and clarified that a recent feasibility assessment had been conducted at Nyundo Health Centre III. She pledged to continue lobbying for more support for the sub-county and urged residents to remain patient as plans to improve healthcare services are underway.
