The Fisheries Protection Unit spokesperson, Lt. Lauben Ndifula, has issued a stern warning to fish traders, urging them to abstain from engaging in the trade of immature fish to mitigate potential losses.
Lt. Ndifula’s caution comes in the wake of the confiscation of 3 tons of immature fish, which were subsequently disposed of through burning at the Kikorongo trading center in Kasese district.
It is imperative for fish traders to adhere to regulations pertaining to the sale of mature fish to uphold the integrity of the industry and safeguard against economic losses.
