Love knows no bounds, even in the realm of politics. Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, recently took to social media to express her appreciation for the two important men in her life: her husband, Dr. Kizza Besigye, and their son, Anselm.
Winnie Byanyima publicly expressed her affection for her husband, Kizza Besigye at what seems to be a getaway in Kenya.
In an era where public figures often flaunt their relationships, Byanyima has traditionally been private about her personal life. However, in a tweet shared on her Twitter handle, she shared a photo of Besigye and their son, captioning it with heartfelt words: “Two men in my life. They make me happy and keep me on edge!”
Byanyima’s public acknowledgment of her husband marks a departure from her usual discretion. Until 2014, she maintained a guarded stance on her relationship, only revealing details in Daniel Kalinaki’s book, “Kizza Besigye and Uganda’s Unfinished Revolution.”
According to reports, Byanyima’s affection for Besigye dates back to the National Resistance Army/Movement war of 1981-1986. Since then, she has consistently stood by him, publicly expressing her unwavering support.
She openly declared her unwavering love for him during a political rally in 2011, describing him as “handsome, loving, and caring.” Addressing the crowd, she emphasized their inseparability and dismissed rumors about their relationship.
