Andrew, a 29-year-old small entrepreneur from Wakiso, said that for many years he had believed that life simply wasn’t meant for people like him. He explained that he had grown up dreaming of being independent, building a stable business, and supporting his family.

He stated that from the moment he started working on his goals, everything kept collapsing before his eyes. No matter how hard he tried, he said, nothing ever went according to plan, and he kept running into failures that made no sense.

Andrew recalled that his first business had been a small poultry project. He said he had invested all his savings, but within weeks, the birds started dying one after another.

He added that he blamed himself, thinking maybe he hadn’t cared for them properly, and that he had tried again with fresh capital, new chicks, and better equipment.

He reported that the same thing happened again. After losing almost everything, he said he had decided to switch to a mobile money business. He explained that he had rented a small kiosk and started serving customers in the neighborhood, but within three months, the kiosk had been broken into twice, causing him to lose all his working capital.

Andrew said that his relatives had begun to think he was irresponsible. Some had even started mocking him, saying that business was not for everyone and that he should just accept it and get employed. But he admitted that deep inside he knew something was wrong, adding that it was not normal for everything he touched to fail in the same way.

He went on to say that even opportunities that seemed promising would suddenly disappear at the last minute. He explained that people would promise to partner with him, only to change their minds mysteriously, and that some customers simply avoided his business for reasons he could not understand.
