The Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Lira City East Division Stephen Odongo, has urged parents in Lira City to prioritize their children’s education and ensure they return to school promptly. Odongo made this appeal during an interview with the media from his office on Friday morning.

He emphasized the crucial role of education in nation-building and socio-economic transformation, urging parents to prioritize their children’s education for a brighter future and to foster responsible citizenship. Odongo stressed that educating children fully is the responsibility of both leaders and learners.

He called for collective responsibility among parents, teachers, and stakeholders to ensure better learning outcomes for children. Additionally, Odongo issued a stern warning to teachers regarding absenteeism, late arrival, and skipping classes. He announced plans to implement strict monitoring and supervision starting next week, with visits to all schools in Lira City East Division.

Odongo highlighted that lack of accountability and absenteeism among teachers contributes to poor performance in some schools. He expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his commitment to education and nation-building, emphasizing education’s role in promoting national identity and development.

Odongo emphasized that education is not only essential for development but also fosters unity and cohesion within society.
