Two women sustained injuries this morning after being attacked by a suspected mentally ill man in Masindi town.
The incident occurred along Sebegala Street when a man, identified as Humphrey, 20, allegedly stabbed Scovia Aniirwoth and another unidentified woman with a knife. Humphrey is reportedly a resident of Kirasa cell in Masindi Municipality.
Residents swiftly intervened, apprehending the suspect and handing him over to Masindi Police Station. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
A relative, identified only as Kajuma, revealed that Humphrey’s mental health had deteriorated due to substance abuse. The family is now planning to seek rehabilitation and medical treatment for him.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the police were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
