Celebrations and happiness engulfed the Archdiocese of Mbarara on Saturday, August 27, 2023, as nine priests and 11 deacons were ordained in a mass led by Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha.
The ordination took place at Nyamitanga Cathedral, the seat of the Archdiocese of Mbarara. The new priests and deacons were presented to the congregation by the Archbishop, who then led them through the ordination ceremony.
In his homily, Archbishop Bainomugisha urged the new priests and deacons to be good shepherds and servants of the people. He also reminded them of the importance of prayer, study, and obedience.
“You are called to be ministers of the Word,” he said. “You must be men of prayer and study, and you must be obedient to the Church’s teaching.”
The ordination ceremony was attended by a large crowd of people, including government officials, religious leaders, and members of the public.
Among the dignitaries present were Minister of Trade Francis Mwebesa, NWSC MD Eng. Silver Mugisha, Members of Parliament, Girvarse Ndyanabo, and local council leaders.
The ordination was a joyous occasion for the Archdiocese of Mbarara, and it is hoped that the new priests and deacons will serve the Church and the people with dedication and love.
