Some of the key issues deliberated on, among others, included fast-tracking the reallocation of water pipelines along Buremba – Kakoba Road, which were damaged by CICO Road Contractors, for timely restoration of service in the affected places/areas. Both parties should always share their development plans with each other on time for proper planning to avoid future incidents that may cause damages, which could turn into calamities.

The meeting discussed a list of villages within and on the outskirts of Mbarara City that are still water-stressed, including Rwagaju, Katamba, Nyarubanga, Kibaya 1 after Bugashe, Rwobuyenje Kikadde, among many others. It was agreed to have them prioritized in our budgets.

The meeting appreciated the efforts by the MP for Mbarara City South, who previously lobbied for pipes for Bugashe and the surrounding areas. The meeting resolved to have enough service ducts while constructing new roads to enable us to easily fix water pipes and to avoid future damages.

Members committed to working together towards implementing the construction of two planned road links connecting both Victor Bwana and Mackansigh streets at different points but are interfered with by the sewer pipe network, as was clearly observed during the site tour by the team.

Members also appreciated the fact that water supply in Mbarara is still not enough. However, GM – Mbarara NWSC assured them that the Kagera Mega project is loading and that by the end of this year, it shall be receiving bulk water to supplement what we already have. According to Mbaine Julius Mugisha, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation Western Uganda, all works will be done before the end of this year, and he asked those affected areas to be patient for a while.
