The Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) community is on edge after a fourth-year medical student, Paddy Segawa, disappeared under mysterious circumstances on September 22, 2023.
Segawa’s sister, Ritah Nantoogo, told the press that her brother was last seen at Vybs Lounge in Mbarara city, where he had gone for fun. Closed-circuit cameras at the lounge captured Segawa leaving alone at around midnight, but no one has seen him since.
Nantoogo said she reported her brother’s disappearance to Mbarara central police station last week, but police have yet to provide an update on the investigation.
Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Samson Kasasira confirmed that the police are investigating Segawa’s disappearance. He urged anyone with information about Segawa’s whereabouts to contact the police.
Segawa’s disappearance has caused widespread panic and concern among MUST administrators and students. Many are wondering what happened to Segawa and whether he is safe.
