Memorial Prayers Held for Late Col. Engola Mac-Odwogo, Family Requests School and Health Facility

Oyam, Uganda – Senior Presidential advisor in charge of Lango sub-region, Hon. Sam Engola, and Reserve Force Commander Lt. General Charles Otema Awany were commended by several mourners in Iceme, Oyam district during the memorial prayers organized by the family of the late Col. Engola Mac-Odwogo on May 4, 2024.

The LC One of Awangi ‘A’ village, Orupu parish, Iceme Sub-county, Oyam district, requested the government to build a school and health facility to add to the existing legacy created by the late Retired Col. Mac-Odwogo Charles Engola.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Lango Parliamentary Group (LPG), Hon. Alyek Judith, from Kole district Woman MP, narrated that they haven’t received any report on compensation for Okello Engola’s family regarding his demise.

“We want the government to promote his rank from Colonel to the rank of Brigadier,” she urged.

She urged Engola Junior Samuel (elder son of the deceased) and all his other brothers to be united for the good of the family as they carry on the legacy of Retired Col. Engola Okello.

Apac Woman MP, Hon. Betty Engola, who is also the wife of the prominent Erute South MP aspirant Sam Engola, and senior Presidential advisor, urged Christians in Iceme to remain faithful to God at all times.

For Otiko-kin clan members, Hon. Betty Engola advised them to remain united because even H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni would remember and mourn the late Mac-Odwogo as he was a hard-working officer of 501 Opit during the LRA insurgency.

She commended Lt. Gen. Charles Otema Awany for standing with the family and being a true family friend of the late Engola Mac-Odwogo.

Afande Otema Awany contributed 5 million shillings in cash as part of his condolence contribution for the family of the late Okello Engola Mac-Odwogo.

The clan executive of Otiko-kin clan gave a bull in appreciation of the Church (Awangi COU).

The Oyam LCV Chairman, Mr. Dila Benson, noted that the road from Loro to Minakakulu will be tarmacked, and additionally, 12 kilometers within Oyam Town council shall also be tarmacked by UNRA.

He congratulated the family for holding the first memorial service to pay respects to the fallen Col. Engola and urged them to make it an annual event.

He advised the children of the late Engola Nathan to be united because he has been receiving reports that they are currently divided. Dila Benson urged the clan chief of Otiko-kin clan, Hon. Sam Engola, to reconcile the family of the late Engola Mac-Odwogo so that they can live in harmony together as one family, urging him to allow the children to have full rights to the property of their late father.

The late Col. Charles Engola was born on December 10, 1955. He died on May 2, 2023, when Private Sabiti shot him dead.

Hundreds of people turned up for the memorial prayer at Iceme.
