The leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, commonly known as Bobi Wine, couldn’t hold back from taking a jab at self-exiled author and novelist Kakwenza Rukira. While speaking to a group at the party’s headquarters in Makerere Kavule, Bobi Wine encouraged his supporters not to shy away from discussing the ruling party’s shortcomings.

He pointed to himself as an example that has caused President Museveni many restless nights. Bobi Wine mentioned that it’s not just Museveni who is affected, but also his son, who keeps tweeting about him late into the night.

It’s worth mentioning that this week, Museveni’s son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, launched a string of posts on his X platform, labeling Bobi Wine as a Bob Marley impersonator. He claimed that Bob Marley was an attractive Munyankore man with straight teeth, unlike Bobi Wine, who has crooked teeth.

According to the runner-up of the 2021 presidential election, this demonstrates that he is a source of anxiety for the ruling family. He urged his supporters to also be fearless and not to act like Kakwenza.

“Do not allow these individuals to have peace; make them lose sleep. You can see how I disturb Museveni and his foolish son who is up late at night posting about me. Be bold like me and stand by your words. Don’t be a coward like Kakwenza, who hides away when threatened by the regime,” Bobi Wine mocked.

It is important to highlight that Kakwenza fled the country a few years ago after being arrested and tortured, allegedly on the orders of Gen Muhoozi. The author has been a long-standing critic of the regime, making harsh and vulgar attacks. He endured severe torture and was left for dead but managed to escape to Europe, where he has continued to criticize the regime.

However, as a supporter of the FDC and the Kiiza Besigye faction, Kakwenza has occasionally made subtle digs at Bobi Wine and NUP. He did not take Bobi Wine’s comments lightly and immediately responded.

In contrast to Bobi Wine’s assertion that Kakwenza is fearful of Muhoozi, the author refuted this claim. He explained that he is in exile for medical treatment, noting that Bobi Wine had also sought medical care in America after being mistreated.

Kakwenza emphasized that his exile does not stem from fear of Muhoozi. He urged the NUP leader to cease his mockery and join him in rallying for weapons to topple the regime. The author suggested that those who allow Bobi Wine to make such jabs would likely be the first to flee if Muhoozi came after him.

“Mr. @HEBobiwine
, no one is scared of cannibal
@mkainerugaba
as you insinuate in this video. I’m in exile for medical treatment—same as you ran away to America for medical treatment when you were brutalised. Me being here is not because I am scared of that drunk idiot. Stop mocking me and join me we look for guns instead of masturbating with sham elections. Those guys inflating you to spew such will be the first to run when the makudde zombie comes for you.”
