There was high drama in Nansana during the burial of David Ssebuunya Rahumati, a popular property broker who recently died in a tragic road accident.
The tension began when two of Ssebuunya’s children suddenly became “possessed,” claiming their father’s spirit was revealing that deadly herbs had been secretly placed inside his coffin by some mourners. They alleged that the herbs were linked to a planned spiritual attack by his business rivals.
The children’s alarming state threw mourners into panic, prompting the family to order the grave reopened just moments after burial. The body was removed from the coffin, and a search for the said herbs commenced. According to witnesses, some suspicious herbal materials were eventually found wrapped within the body covering. Moments after they were removed, the children reportedly regained consciousness, further deepening the tension.
With many mourners unsettled and others opting to leave, the burial was postponed and later completed in the dead of night. Ssebuunya was finally laid to rest at around 2am when only a handful of people remained at the scene.
Ssebuunya, a well-known businessman and land dealer in Nansana, lost his life in a freak accident when the Boda Boda he was riding on lost control and crashed into a Sino truck. He died instantly, while the motorcycle rider survived with injuries.
His burial has since sparked conversations in the community, with many still shocked by the dramatic turn of events.
