  • Lorah, a Ugandan migrant worker in Dubai, died unexpectedly after a medical operation, sparking grief and controversy back home.

There was drama at Entebbe International Airport on Thursday when a bitter exchange broke out between the family of the late Florence Nagawa, popularly known as Lorah, and her baby daddy over where her body should be taken.

According to eyewitnesses, tensions flared after Lorah’s parents insisted that her remains be transported straight to their ancestral home in Masaka, where she is set to be laid to rest. However, the man said to be her husband and father of her children opposed the move, insisting that the body should first spend a night at their home in Makindye.

He reportedly argued that the house was built through Lorah’s hard work and sacrifices abroad, and therefore, she deserved to “sleep there one last time.” His remarks angered Lorah’s parents, who maintained that the two were never officially married, thus questioning his right to make such decisions.

The confrontation escalated into a heated verbal exchange, drawing the attention of police officers at the airport who had to intervene to calm the situation.

Background: Lorah’s Sudden Death in Dubai

Lorah, a Ugandan migrant worker (commonly known as Nkuba Kyeyo), passed away recently in Dubai under unclear circumstances. Reports indicate that she had checked into a medical facility for what was believed to be a minor health issue, only to undergo an operation that tragically claimed her life.

Her sudden death sent shockwaves across social media, with many of her friends and fellow Ugandans in the Middle East mourning her as a hardworking and ambitious woman who had been striving to improve her family’s life back home.

The late Lorah’s body was repatriated earlier this week, marking a somber return that was overshadowed by family disputes at the airport.
