Adongo Janet Elau, the NRM flag bearer in the forthcoming Dokolo Woman MP by-election, garnered significant turnout and support during her second day of campaigning in Kangai and Adeknino areas.
Addressing hundreds of gathered voters at Adyangotoo “A” village, Aridi parish, Adeknino sub-county, Dokolo south, she expressed community dissatisfaction with the fishing restrictions around Lake Dokolo, calling on the government to review them.
In her manifesto, Adong emphasized wealth creation as a pivotal agenda item, aiming for women to enhance household income and socio-economic status once elected.
Encouraging women to mobilize early and rally the youth and men to vote for her on March 21, 2024, she stressed the importance of achieving better education, healthcare, clean water, and improved service delivery in the district. She delivered these messages during various rallies on Thursday in Kangai Town Council and Adeknino sub-county, among other locations.
MP Okot Ogong of Dokolo addressed the voters, asserting that H.E. Gen. Yoweri Museveni will remain in power indefinitely, quipping that “UPC will go nowhere.” He questioned how an MP like Akena Michael could ever defeat Museveni, stating firmly that Museveni is entrenched in power, unlike Akena.
Ogong further suggested that people in Lango should refrain from revering other leaders as orphans or offspring of past leaders if they are non-performers. He advocated for calling individuals by their own merit, rather than associating them with their ancestors.
“Dokolo people must recognize me, Okot Ogong, and NRM flag bearer Adong Janet Elau as genuine political leaders, rather than supporting UPC or any other candidates,” Okot Ogong asserted.
