KAMPALA, Uganada – Uganda’s political scene is witnessing a dramatic shift with the rise of the People Power Front (PPF), a newly formed political group.
Established on December 20, 2023, by Spartan Mukagyi, PPF is drawing attention as a splinter faction from the National Unity Platform (NUP) and People Power Movement, determined to regain its original momentum.
The PPF is spearheading a major initiative called the “People Power Reunion,” aimed at reuniting former and current movement coordinators, along with supporters of political change.
The reunion seeks to reignite the once-powerful People Power Movement, whose followers have become frustrated by the perceived misuse of their efforts for personal and financial gain.
This ambitious event is scheduled for November 2024 at the historic Kololo ceremonial grounds, selected for its capacity to host a massive crowd.
The event is being branded as the “One Million People Assembly,” aiming to offer a platform for renewed hope, promote a well defined liberation agenda, and push for transformative, nation-building politics.
PPF leaders are advocating for a departure from the traditional combative opposition tactics, pushing instead for a focus on unity, development, and sustainable political change for the ordinary Ugandan. As the country prepares for the 2026 general elections, PPF is positioning itself as a key player in the upcoming political battles.
There are growing speculations that PPF’s rise could create ripples within the NUP, with reports of several movement coordinators, both within Uganda and in the diaspora considering aligning themselves with the new political front.
The reunion will also serve as a platform to introduce prominent PPF leaders, including Party Chairperson Hajji Musa Misango and Secretary General Spartan Mukagyi.
As Uganda moves closer to the 2026 polls, political analysts and the public are closely watching the PPF’s next steps and its potential to reshape the nation’s political future.
