In a cordial interaction today, our reporter met with the officer in charge, ASP Kajera Zadoki, at Bulaga Police Post regarding the controversial case involving three young boys identified as Makumbi Gerald (19), Ssenyonjo Yahaya (20), and Ssengozi (21).

While the officer confirmed that the suspects are still in custody, he stated that they are “not allowed to reveal or disclose any further information” about them.

ASP Kajera Zadoki did reveal that plans are underway to transfer the suspects to the Wakiso Division Police for “further case management.” The boys, who have been held at the local police post since their arrest on September 8th, will soon face the next stage of legal proceedings, but their fate remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, it is reported that our recent publication has sparked a wave of reactions beyond the village of Bulaga. Human rights practitioners and alleged members of the LGBT community have shown a keen interest in the case, monitoring developments closely.

Concerns are rising over the treatment of the boys in custody, and the case is quickly becoming a flashpoint in the ongoing conversation about rights and justice in the region.

Despite this growing external attention, the local community remains firm in their stance. Voices in the village continue to call for swift and severe punishment for the boys.

The calls for them to be expelled from the village or publicly flogged are growing louder as community members demand that they be made an example of. “They need to be made an example of,” declared one community elder. “If not, what will stop others from following this path?”

The tension between the community’s demand for traditional justice and the growing scrutiny from human rights groups has set the stage for a heated conflict. The future of the boys, who were once familiar faces in the daily market, now hangs in a precarious balance, caught between local customs and modern justice.

With the suspects soon to be transferred to a higher police division, many are watching closely. Will the community’s call for punishment prevail, or will the intervention of human rights groups change the course of this story?

As the situation continues to unfold, we remain committed to bringing you the latest updates on this deeply polarizing case. Stay tuned for more.
