Investigators Develop Cough and Flu After Alleged ‘Smell of Money’ at Anita Among’s House

KAMPALA, Uganda — Reports have emerged indicating that a joint security team comprising officials from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and other security agencies, reportedly backed by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), conducted a search operation at residences linked to former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged illicit enrichment.

According to circulating but unverified accounts, investigators are said to have recovered large sums of money in multiple currencies during the searches. However, authorities have not officially confirmed the alleged findings.

Sources further claim that the operation involved the inspection of several rooms within one of the properties, though details remain unclear and unverified.

The security operation is also reported to have extended to Buyende District, where additional searches were expected to take place as part of the widening inquiry.

Meanwhile, there has been widespread discussion on social media and within some communities regarding the developments, though these reactions remain anecdotal and have not been independently verified.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement clarifying the scope of the operation or confirming any of the circulating claims.

The matter remains under investigation, and official communication is expected in due course.
