Karamoja Leaders Demand Corrupt Ministry of Water and Ministry of Agriculture Officials Face Army Court Martial

Karamoja – Leaders in Karamoja seem to be losing trust in the civil courts, saying the military court martial should begin prosecuting corrupt officials.

They said a firing squad would be the best option to eliminate corruption in the country.

Mr. Otita Joseph, LC3 Chairperson of Rupa, said the rate at which corruption has taken over the Ministry of Water and the Ministry of Agriculture now requires the intervention of the army court martial to address it.

He said Karamoja has paid the price of corruption in the Ministry of Water and the Ministry of Agriculture, where money is released for activities in the sub-region, but officials assigned to implement the projects instead divert the funds for personal use.

Paul Lokol, LCV Chairperson of Nabilatuk, said engineers from the Ministry of Water and the Ministry of Agriculture carry qualifications for stealing project funds rather than implementing projects.

“My friend, if you want to collapse, let the two line ministries present paper accountability to you. They are well versed in it, yet the reality is that nothing is on the ground,” he said.

Moses Apuun said Karamoja has been turned into a fattening ground for officials from the Ministry of Water and the Ministry of Agriculture.
